Van Meter rallied late to win against Madrid 7-5 on Monday night. Van Meter put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn the victory. In the Circle, Haley Forret was the winning pitcher (6-1) going 7 innings, allowing 3 earned, and 4 K’s.
In the first, Meagan Blomgren led off with a walk, She later scored on a Haley Forret single. Olivia Prouty singled to score Forret which gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. In the third, Madrid tied it up at 2 apiece. Van Meter regained the lead again in the bottom of the fourth on a Gwen Boston walk and Meagan Blomgren double scoring Boston.
Van Meter gave up three runs in the top of the sixth and trailed 5-3. Olivia Prouty got things going with a single. Mackenzie Blomgren advanced her on a sac fly. Gwen Boston doubled to scored Prouty. Shea Rhodes singled and Lilly Thompson drove in Rhodes and Boston with a two run triple. Haley Forret added an insurance RBI single to put the Bulldogs up 7-5. That was the final.
Van Meter improves to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in conference. They play at Ogden Tuesday night with JV at 5:30 and Varsity to follow.
