On Thursday, October 8th the Van Meter Bulldogs travelled to Stuart to play the West Central Valley Wildcats. The Bulldogs won with the scores of 25-16, 25-11, and 25-10.
For the second time in the week, the Bulldogs were able to disperse kills evenly with Sophomore Abby Matt having 12, Senior Sidney Nelson having 11, and Senior Sydney Rainey having 10. Senior Emma Braun led the team in assists with 21 followed by Nelson with 16. Nelson led the team in ace serves with 4, and Braun and Senior Josie Durflinger added in 3 each as well. Durflinger, Junior Maia Abrahamson, Sophomore Emma Gilliland, Junior Kaylie Golwitzer, and Abby Matt all had 100% serving efficiency to contribute to the Bulldog win. Senior Libero Norah Matt led the team in digs with 12, followed by Braun with 11 and Nelson with 10. This led to Seniors Emma Braun and Sidney Nelson both resulting in having double doubles on the night with Braun having 21 assists and 11 digs and Nelson having 16 assists and 10 digs. Braun and Junior Sami McDonald put up a block assist while Rainey contributed 1 solo block on the night.
This win puts the Bulldogs at a 13-3 record and a 5-2 conference record. Van Meter has a busy week next week as they finish out conference play with facing Ogden on Monday, October 12th at home, Madrid on Tuesday, October 13th at Madrid, and Woodward Granger on Thursday, October 15th at home to celebrate Senior Night.
