Van Meter started their 4 game week with a road victory Monday night at Carroll against Kuemper High School. The Bulldogs went into the game short handed as the flu has hit the team hard over the weekend. 4 Bulldogs did not make the trip leaving only 10 suited for the tough varsity contest against a solid Kuemper team. Van Meter led by the score of 19-15 in a high scoring first quarter as both teams seemed to struggle to stop one another. The Bulldogs extended the lead in the second and led by 7 at the half. Slowly but surely Van Meter got further ahead and had a big fourth quarter on their way to the 70-44 victory. Van Meter held Kuemper to only 16 second half points. Anthony Potthoff led the way with 20 and Taylor Birks had a big game off the bench with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Parker Fryar and Ian Abrahamson also added 8 for Van Meter and all 10 guys got in the scoring column. No rest for the weary as they travel to I-35 to take on the Roadrunners Tuesday night.
