Van Meter bounced back from the loss to Carlisle in a big way on Thursday behind the pitching arm of Anthony Potthoff. The Bulldogs got exactly what they needed from the sophomore after a frustrating overall performance at home the previous night. Potthoff was efficient on the mound needing only 76 pitches in seven innings to shutout Panorama on one hit, striking out six and walking only one. The win improves Potthoff to 3-0 on the young season.
The offense also showed positive signs of life in the opener of the doubleheader. Three singles in the second inning led to two runs to take the early lead. Following quiet middle innings, the offense erupted for five runs in the seventh inning, putting the game out of reach, behind a three RBI triple by Spencer Lamb. Overall, JJ Durflinger, Lamb, and Potthoff would all tally two hits for the visitors while Lamb led all players with a big 5 RBI night.
