The Varsity Baseball Team picked up an 11-1 six inning victory on Monday night against the Madrid Tigers. Madrid struck first with one run in the top of the second inning after a walk and two base hits off of starting pitcher Marshall Smith. The offense would respond in the bottom of the third with a big five run inning. The Bulldogs didn’t look back continuing to add to the lead with four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth ending the game on an RBI single by Brett Berg which scored Mitch Pomeroy. Pomeroy, Berg, and Anthony Potthoff all had multi-hit games for the Bulldogs. Pomeroy, Berg, and Spencer Lamb all tallied multiple RBI in the game as well. Eight of nine Bulldogs reached base in the game.
Marshall Smith went the distance on the mound throwing all six innings giving up the one run on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk. The win improves Smith to 2-0 on the season. The Bulldogs are now 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
