The freshman football team moved to 2 – 0 on the season with a thrilling 12-6 victory over Pella Christian Friday night. The Bulldog’s moved the ball early in game but couldn’t finish off the drives with points after a fumble inside the 5 yard line and a botched snap.

The defense responded well after Pella Christian scored on their 2nd drive on a 50 yard touchdown pass. The team forced PC to punt on their next 8 drives. Early in the 3rd quarter, Carter Durflinger caught a screen pass from Ben Gilliland and was able to run 50 yards for a touchdown to get the team on the board. On the next series, Gilliland ran 40 yards around the left side for another touchdown to give the Bulldog’s the lead.

Pella Christian came close to scoring 2 times in the 4th quarter but both drives ended on Eagle turnovers. The first, on an interception inside the 5 yard line by Aydn Netten and the next on a fumble recovery by Mike Banks.

The freshman team has the week off and will play again next Thursday, September 19th against South Hamilton in Van Meter starting at 5pm.
