The Bulldogs wrapped up their season with their toughest test yet, playing at Woodward-Granger. Both teams struggled to move the football down the field with the weather and field conditions being sloppy. The Hawks won by a score of 10-8.
In the first quarter defense was the ket for both teams, and after a goal line stand by the Bulldogs, the Hawks were able to force the Bulldog offense to punt deep in their own territory. The Hawks blocked the punt, and got a safety giving them a 2-0 lead early.
The first scoring action for the Bulldogs came in the 2nd quarter with Caleb Moore breaking off a 31 yard run to put the Bulldogs up 6-0. Charlie Matt added the 2pt conversion. The Bulldogs went into the half leading 8-2.
In the second half the Bulldog offense saw the field first, and marched down to opponent territory, but ended up turning it over on a fumble. Woodward-Granger scored on their next offensive possession, and added the 2pt conversion to take the lead 10-8.
The Bulldogs did not show any quit, stuffing the Hawk offense on 4th and 1, and getting the ball back with one more chance to take the lead. The Bulldogs moved the ball well, and had a couple chances late to get the go ahead touchdown, but the Hawks defense stepped up and kept them out of the endzone.
The Bulldogs fall to 5-1 on the season, and will look to keep improving on a very successful season as 8th graders next year.
