The Van Meter 7th grade boys basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season after taking down the Earlham Cardinals on Thursday night. The Bulldogs jumped all over the Cardinals in the 1st quarter. Van Meter played pressure defense and scored quickly in transition to jump out to an 18-2 lead.

The offense slowed down in the 2nd quarter as both teams seemed to settle into the game. Earlham cut the Van Meter lead down to 9 with two minutes left in the 2nd quarter. The Bulldogs finished the half on a much needed 7-0 run, capped off by a Cael Trudo three-pointer at the buzzer to end the half. Van Meter led 26-10.

Van Meter expanded their lead in the 2nd half leading 41-17 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Austin Baumhover had a big night, leading all scorers with 18 points and pulling in 7 rebound. Cael Trudo added 10 points and 3 assists. Porter Doggett knocked down two three-pointers on his way to scoring 9 points in the win. Van Meter closed out the game with the final score of 45-20.

Van Meter will host DMC on Monday and travel to Nodaway Valled on Tuesday before heading to Thanksgiving Break.
