The Van Meter girls rolled up 150 points to win the Dave Tapps Invitational. Van Meter used great team depth and scored in all 19 events. Clarinda was second with 113 points and Mount Ayr and Earlham tied for third with 101.
Clare Kelly set a new school record in the 1500 in a time of 5:02.13. The record was previously set by Jenna Kinley in 2008 at 5:07.50.
Other individual winners were Eden Moore in the 100 (12.93), Zoie Vaught in the 100 hurdles (17.10) and Mary Kelly in the 400 hurdles (1:09.39). Moore was also second in the 200 (26.67) as well as Vaught in the long jump (15’9″). Also taking second for the Bulldogs was Brooklyn Fryar with a personal best in the 800 (2:45.31).
Van Meter finished first in 3 relays. Nora Matt, Maya Herman, Mary Kelly and Clare Kelly teamed up to take the 4-800 (10:13.66) in a season best time. Matt, Moore, Herman and Mary Kelly won the 4-400 (4:12.39). Ally Lindsey, Kennedy Wiedman, Shae Smolik and Shea Rhodes took the 4-200 relay (1:55.89).
Van Meter host the WCAC meet next Tuesday with field events starting at 4:00.
