The Van Meter girls and boys track teams both performed well on the opening day of the 2019 state track meet.

Mackenzie Blomgren advanced to the finals of the 100 by running a season best time of 12.96. Blomgren is the 8th and final qualifier.
Freshman Maya Herman placed 6th in the 400 establishing a new school record by running 59.21.
Sophmore Kobe Richards placed 21st in the 400 with a time of 54.63.
