The Van Meter girls finished 4th in the state qualifying meet on Thursday night running some of their best times of the season. Panorama was first, followed by ACGC and Mount Ayr.
Meagan Blomgren and Natalie Barth both claimed individual championships for the Bulldogs. Blomgren won the 200 meter dash in 27.07 while Barth was captured the 400 hurdles in 1:10.19. Blomgren was also second in the 100 (13.13) and the third in the long jump (16’01 1/2). Barth finished 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.83.
Other individual place winner for Van Meter were Livi Hausher (13.59) was 5th in the 100. Lilly Thompson 4th in the 200 (27.81). Emma Braun 6th (1:10.94) and Jorja Hanselman 7th (1:11.53) in the 400. Cari Walton was 7th in the 100 hurdles (17.80).
The 4-400 relay finished with a season best time of 4:18.36 to finish 3rd. Blomgren, Thompson, Josie Durflinger and Barth carried the baton for the Bulldogs. The shuttle hurdle team of Walton, Aubrey Artzer, Jenna Schlueter and Barth finished third in 1:10.9. That is a new school record for the shuttle hurdle.
The State track meet will start on Thursday May 17th.
