The Van Meter boys track team captured the State Qualifying track meet by scoring 120 points. Pleasanville was second with 88 and ACGC was third with 83 points. All first and second place finishers automaticly qualify for the state track meet. Others may qualify on time, but that isn’t known yet.
Anthony Lowman captured the 200 meter title in 22.64. Sam Thompson ran a season best 15.32 to finish first in the 110 meter high hurdles. Thompson and Lowman joined Zach Drummond and Carson Rhodes to take the 4-100 meter relay in a new school record time of 43.93.
Owen Jones finished second in the high jump at 5-10, while Marshall Smith was third also in 5-10. Connor Guess finished second in the shot with a throw of 49’07 1/2″. Derek Golwitzer was third with a season best throw of 49′. Also placing second individually was Jack Trudo in the 3200 with a time of 10:20.71.
Relays finishing second were the spring medley team of Drummond, Thompson, Lowman and Rhodes in a new school record time of 1:35.69. The shuttle hurdle team of Owen Jones, Noah Hale, Lowman and Thompson was second in 1:00.97.
Anthony Potthoff finished third in the 400 meters running 54.20. Also finishing third was the 4-200 relay of Drummond, Hunter Coyle, JJ Durflinger and Jones in 1:35.90.
The state track meet begins Thursday May 17th.
