The Van Meter boys track team won the class B division of the Gilbert relays while scoring 168 points. Madrid was second with 161.
Connor Guess was first in the shot with a throw of 51 feet while Derek Golwitzer was third with a throw of 47’1 1/2″. Sam Thompson was the only other individual champion for the Bulldogs winning the 110 high hurdles in a time of 15.61.
The shuttle hurdle relay finished first in 1:01.41. Owen Jones, Anthony Lowman and Noah Hale combined with Thompson for the win. Jones, Lowman and Thompson joined Carson Rhodes to take first in the 4-100 meter relay in 45.73. The 4-200 team of Hunter Coyle, Lowman, Anthony Potthoff and Rhodes won in a season best time of 1:34.58.
Zach Drummond was second in both the 100 (11.70) and the 200 (23.88). Jack Trudo also finished second in two individual events running 10:18.92 in the 3200 and then turning in a season best in the 1600 of 4:45.44.
Van Meter returns to action Thursday as we host the Dave Tapps Invitational. Field events start at 4:30 with running at 5:00.
