Last week the Van Meter boys and girls track teams participated in the state track meet with multiple performers placing.
On the girls side Mackenzie Blomgren finished 6th in the 100 in 13.13 while her sister Meagan was 8th in a time of 13.16. Meagan was also 9th in the 200 at 26.28. Both sisters also competed in the long jump with Meagan finishing 6th with a jump of 16’7.75″ and Mackenzie was 19th with a best jump of 15’1.75. Earlier in the season Meagan had set a new school record with a jump of 17’4″.
Mackenzie Roberts was 13th in the shot with a throw of 35’8.5″. Mackenzie set the school record earlier in the season with a throw of 36’8″.
The sprint medley team of Mackenzie Blomgren, Taylor Drummond, Natalie Barth and Meagan Blomgren finished 14th over all in a time of 1:54.50.
For the boys the shuttle hurdle relay was the top finisher reaching the finals and coming in 8th with a time of 1:02.78. Sam Thompson, Noah Hale, Owen Jones and Kasey O’brien made up that relay.
Connor Guess finished 15th in the shot at 49’1/2″. Connor broke his own school record earlier in the year with a throw of 54’6.5″.
Sam Thompson finished 17th in the 110 meter high hurdles in a time of 15.73.
Carson Rhodes was 18th in the 100 in a time of 11.54 and 18th in the long jump with a best jump of 18’10”.
Next season should be a good one for the Bulldogs with all qualifiers returning except Roberts in the shot.
