The Van Meter boys and girls track teams had 10 individuals and 2 relays qualify for the state track meet. State track begins on Thursday May 18th.
Meagan Blomgren was first in the state qualifying meet with a jump of 17’5.2/5″ in the long jump. Meagan’s jump is also a new school record. Mackenzie Blomgren has the 11th best qualifying jump at 16’51/2″.
Both Blomgrens also qualified in the 100 meter dash. Mackenzie has the 7th fastest time at 12.86 while Meagan clocks in 20th at 13.06. Meagan also qualified in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.90 seeding her in the 14th position.
Mackenzie Roberts broke the school record with a throw of 36’8″. That throw puts her 20th going into the state meet.
The girls sprint medley team of both Blomgren’s, Taylor Drummond and Natalie Barth are 23rd headed to the state meet with a time of 1:54.60.
On boys side the shuttle hurdle team finished first in the qualfier meet with a time of 1:01.26. Sam Thompson, Noah Hale, Owen Jones, and Tyler Kubiak make up that unit that is seeded 5th going into state.
Thompson also qualified in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.56. That puts him at 17th, while Carson Rhodes is 19th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.61. Carson also qualified in the long jump at 20’2″.
Connor Guess continued his record breaking season in the shot put winning the qualifying championship at 54’61/2″ to again break his own school record. Connors throw puts him 5th headed to state.
The state track meet runs May 18,19 and 20th.
