Boys Middle School Track, Boys Varsity Track · Van Meter Boys Win WCV Invitational


Van Meter out distanced second place ACGC by 5 points to win the WCV Invitational with 149 points.

Connor Guess broke his own school record with a throuw of 49’7″ to finish first in the shot put.

Other first place finishers for the Bulldogs were Sam Thompson in the 110 hurdles (16.67). Anthony Potthoff in the high jump at 5’8″. The shuttle hurdle team of Kasey O’brien, Noah Hale, Owen Jones and Tyler Kubiak finished first with a time of 1:06.22. The 4-100 relay also finished first in a time 47.05. Carter Coppinger, Thompson, Jones and Carson Rhodes made up that relay.

Rhodes finished second in the 200 (24.38), Cameron Smolik was second in the 400 (56.22) and Sam Bass was second in the 800 (2:12.14). Van Meter also placed second in two relays. The 4-200 team of Coppinger, Cody Coffman, Ian Abrahamson and Potthoff finished in 1:40.44. The 4-400 team posted their best time of the year in 3:46.50. That team was Zach Drummond, Thompson, JJ Richards and Smolik.

The Bulldogs return to the track Monday at Gilbert.
