Van Meter needed a win at Des Moines Christian to claim an outright boys basketball conference title. With 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter it was not looking good. The Bulldogs trailed 42-31 and all the momentum was with the Lions. Van Meter rattled off 9 points to end the quarter to pull within 42-40 going into the 4th. The Bulldogs continued their run with a 10-3 start to the quarter and led 50-45 with 4 minutes to go. Van Meter made most of their free throws to finish off the Lions and take an outright conference title for the first time since 2003. The Bulldogs were led off the bench by Mitchell Pomeroy with 13, Ian Abrahamson by 12, Jack Trudo with 11 and Ryan Schmitt with 10. 2 other Bulldogs were close to double figures with Fryar and Johnson with 9 and 7 respectively. Van Meter moves to 17-0 in the conference and 19-1 overall. The only loss came out of conference last Saturday to Pella Christian. The Bulldogs finish the regular season at senior night on Thursday against Woodward Academy.
