Game Recap

Van Meter’s softball season ends with a 15-5 loss at the hands of a hard hitting I-35 team in the Regional Semi-final.

The Bulldogs got on the board first in what would be a high scoring game. Meagan Blomgren hit a two out single scoring Lilly Thompson to give Van Meter a 1-0 lead. I-35 would get two runs in the bottom half of the first to regain the lead 2-1. In the top of the second, Olivia Prouty hit a double off the right center field fence scoring Gwen Boston to tie the game up at 2.

I-35 answered with 3 more runs in the bottom of the second. In the third, Abby Archer drove in Lilly Thompson and Haley Forret to make the score 5-4. This would be as close as it would get as I-35 scored 10 runs in the third and fourth innings. Van Meter added a run on a Lilly Thompson single to score Mackenzie Blomgren making the final 15-5.

Van Meter ends the year with an overall record of 21-14. Thank you to all the fans who came out to support the Bulldogs throughout the season and the Regional games. Finally, thank you to our lone senior Emma Durflinger for her dedication and hard work to the Team.
