Van Meter used a huge 3rd quarter to separate themselves from a very good AHSTW team on their way to a 73-53 win in the sub-state final in Atlantic on Saturday night.  The Bulldogs led 20 -17 after the first and 33-26 at the half.  The Bulldogs outscored AHSTW 28-10 in the third to basically put the game out of reach.  Mitch Pomeroy led Van Meter with 16 points.  Jack Trudo had 13, Ryan Schmitt had 12 and Grant Johnson had 10 to finish out the double figure scorers for the Bulldogs.  Schmitt also add 11 rebounds to his stat line for a nice double-double evening.  Van Meter will play in the state quarterfinals next week Monday night or Tuesday morning.  The state basketball pairings will be announced at 1pm on Wednesday March 1.
